**Welcome Rose (mostly black) and Leia (mostly white) to Team Poundie** Two beauties joining us as an emergency tonight. They have been removed from their previous owners and kept in a safe place by a very nice lady (so the photos are of a temporary holding place as a last minute resort to get these girls safe). They will both need new names to leave their past where is belongs. Warm beds, full tummies and loads of love from now on. We will need help to fund their vet care so any donations would be gratefully received (email@example.com / Team Poundie sort code 77 27 25 account 61125360)We will post some more lovely photos of them tomorrow once they are settled as they have a long journey ahead of them for their forever freedom! Thank you as always for your support
Please welcome SweetPea to Team Poundie! She is currently under the care of her rescuer and will be joining us in foster in the next day or two. SweetPea came from the same place as Rose and Leia so she is also possibly pregnant so we will get her assessed at our vets as soon as possible. Hopefully she is not pregnant. As you can see from her coat she has staining from her previous living conditions so lots of lovely baths and grooming to help her new coat come through pearly white! She is between 6 & 8 years old, not keen on other female dogs but a full assessment will be made in foster. Shes good with children too. SweetPea is under assessment at the moment so we are not processing applications as her requirements will become evident once we have assessed her fully. Her life will be so much different from now on !
SweetPea – a small infection has been detected in her nipple at her pre-op spay appointment this morning so she is on antibiotics and hopefully able to be spayed at the end of this coming week or the following week. She will be ready for adoption once she is spayed and fully vaccinated in the coming weeks. As always we would like to show our appreciation to our fosterers and supporters for all the love shown to our dogs.
*** ADOPTION PENDING ***
**BENNY IS READY FOR ADOPTION**8 years old – Staffy cross – neutered – chipped – vaccinated – flea/worm treated – dog friendly – livestock friendly – child free onlyBenny is a lovely boy. He has come such a long way! Hes affectionate, attentive and loves being with other dogs. He is currently in Bude, Cornwall so you will need to get there a couple of times to meet him prior to adoption. Please feel free to contact us with any questions you have
Beautiful Benny (was Goofy but he wouldn’t respond to that name) is looking for his forever home. He has been with our behaviourist in Cornwall for a while now and we feel he is ready to start the search for his forever home. Benny is roughly 8 years old. Benny needs pet free but he gets along very well with other dogs providing he is introduced properly. He also needs a child free home. Benny ideally needs a male owner. He bonds well with men and as you can see from the video he is a completely different dog to the scared boy who joined us earlier this year. Ian really has done an amazing job!! Benny has had extensive assessments and exposure therapy and done amazingly! Potential adopters will be expected to visit Benny several times prior to adoption so a bond can be formed and Ian can support in integrating Benny back into a home environment.
Ziggy is ready for adoption! Ziggy is neutered, chipped, flea/wormed and due his 2nd vaccination and health check next week. He will also have a trim prior to adoption. Ziggy can not be placed with children or cats, and would need careful introductions to other dogs as hes quite picky, so a pet free home would be ideal for him. Your garden will need to be fully secure as hes a big lad. Ziggy is 7 years old, but still youthful. Hes a typical springer, very aloof in his demeanor and more interested in “nose down tail up” than having fuss. He will need some lead work as he does pull, but that will be quite easy to fix in the right home with the right harness and halti to guide him. Hes an attentive boy, and takes to people quite well, hes not particularly food driven but I think for the right snack he will give you his undivided attention! Ziggy is at our kennels in Derbyshire so you will need to be able to visit him at least once. His adoption donation is £250 and he will come with 5 weeks free pet insurance with Agria.
Ballu is ready for a foster to adopt placement. Our gorgeous boy is ready to start taking applications! Ballu has extensive guarding issues so it is very important that his potential home has experience of these issues, and also bull breeds/mastiff types as his behaviour is quite typical of a mastiff in some respects. Ballu can be quite immature in some ways and thinks he can bully his way out of a situation where he doesn’t want to listen. This includes mouthing and getting over stimulated so Ballu is looking for a home with adults only, no resident children or visiting children, no other pets and a large secure garden for plenty of training and exercise. On a positive note, Ballu is a lovely boy. He warms to people relatively quickly and he susses people out quickly too. He’s energetic, loves to play and bombs about the paddock in his element. Hes intelligent, and enjoys training and food rewards! We will be exceptionally thorough in our search for a home for Ballu. Applicants will need to prove their experience of guarding issues and be able to follow strict instructions and guidance, for a long period of time post-adoption. Our team will be on hand for the duration of Ballu’s foster period and as life time back up for him too. Ballu has been neutered; albeit quite young, which we believe could have exacerbated his issues, but we are hoping with boundaries and set expectations he will be a role model in months to come. Applications should be completed on our webpage and one of the team will be in touch to discuss should your application meet Ballu’s needs in principle. Ballu is currently in our kennels in Ilkeston, Derbyshire. Successful applicants will be expected to make several visits to Ballu and meet with our kennel staff and team member to assess suitability.
Look into my beautiful soulful eyes….I am Ballu … and the Team Poundie ladies tell me I have had NO applications!? How can this be? I am intelligent, I will do anything for treats and I am an affectionate boy. I need help to learn that not everything that drops on the floor is mine, but I will learn quickly especially if there is something yummier on offer! Please, just give me a chance. Come and meet me at the kennels and you will fall in love with me! I’ll even do my favourite Kanga-Ballu trick for you!
Tiny – Approx 9 years old We are looking for a permanent foster placement for Tiny. Permanent foster means that we will always be financially responsible for Tiny, but she needs to live in a loving home environment with a family for the rest of her days. She joined us recently, after her owner became too unwell to look after her. As you can see from the photos “Tiny” has been well loved, maybe a little too much! She was a staggering 7.8kg on the scales! Her temporary foster family tell us that Tiny is sweet and affectionate. She always wants to be near you, and loves a cuddle! At night time Tiny will sleep in an open crate in the kitchen, and she loves to make herself a big snuggly nest out of blankets. Tiny is currently on a diet! She has two small meals a day with no processed food or treats at all. She has a Grade 5 Heart Murmur so it is imperative that Tiny sheds some weight, and remains healthy so a strict foster family is an absolute must. Tiny will need regular check ups at a vet to monitor her health and her weight. Due to her health, she can only tolerate short on-lead walks. She is not allowed to exercise excessively, due to her heart. Tiny also had a water infection when she joined us, but this has now cleared up. Tiny is tolerant of larger breed dogs, but will not tolerate small breeds, cats or small furries. With this in mind, we would consider a family with an older calmer dog for Tiny to chill with. She also loves children so 7+ year old children will be considered. Younger ages will be considered on their own merit. But please bare in mind that Tiny will need a calm home environment to keep her stress levels low as she can’t run around like a crazy pup because of her heart.Tiny can be left for short periods of time. She is happy to sleep the day away but does prefer people to be around most of the day. If you think you can offer Tiny the calm and loving retirement home she needs, please fill out a form on our webpage. If your application is successful in principle one of our team will be in touch to discuss your application further and arrange a homecheck. Due to current restrictions all homechecks will be Covid compliant, however some of our homecheckers are shielding so it may take us longer to arrange a homecheck than normal so please be patient with us.
